Frequency- and polarization-agile reconfigurable antennas

We describe here the design and characteristics of several printed reconfigurable antennas. Firstly a new concept of frequency-tunable antenna is presented. This configuration enables one to tune the resonant frequency over a 2:1 frequency band. Numerical and experimental results are given in the 24GHz – 50GHz band for passive prototypes, and from 10GHz to 21GHz for active prototypes. Secondly, a MEMS-based polarization-agile antenna is designed in Q-band. The antenna shape is controlled using Scratch Drives Actuators.
